The Long brick range is an elegant facing brick, so you can be sure of top quality. This brick is longer than the average brick, allowing you to play with horizontal lines in your facade. The long, slender facing bricks also have a rough edge, which gives your facade just that little bit more character.
Clay bricks are made from fired clay and are an ancient building material, very popular since roman times. Brick-making improvements have continued into the twentieth century. Improvements include rendering brick shape absolutely uniform, lessening weight, and speeding up the firing process. For example, modern bricks are seldom solid. Some are pressed into shape, which leaves a frog, or depression, on their top surface.
Recycled Bricks
At LOHAS Australia, a major focus is the sustainability of our building materials. By supplying locally sourced recycled bricks, we are not only giving clients a creative option but also a sustainable option that offers a unique look that no other material can.
Created by hand, LOHAS handmade bricks are molded in the long tradition of craftsmanship and lasting building. LOHAS handmade brick range adds a unique warmth and character to any architectural design from historical restorations to new builds. The hand crafting process imparts a distinctive uniqueness to each brick unequaled by conventional industrially produced bricks.
A recent renewal of interest in bricks has spiked the research within the building materials industry into creating modern bricks that satisfy the needs of a contemporary architecture. Bricks have been a traditional building system for centuries, coming in shades of clay varying from region to region. LOHAS is proud to introduce a new generation of smoked bricks that uses a 'smoking' technique that imparts unique colours throughout the brick.
LOHAS Staffordshire Facing bricks are known for a reputation of excellence. They are universally know to have a "Special Quality" in particular when exposed to extreme weather conditions. The origins of these bricks are from the UK and Ireland; countries that typically experience high impact weather conditions. They are blended from marls, rich carbonated stones, and then dried with very precise humidity control, made possible by the latest automated control equipment. Vitrification takes place in modern gas-fired kilns to temperatures in excess of 1130 degrees Celsius. These bricks are designed to last for hundreds of years.
